Obituary for Retha Leggett Narron

Retha Leggett Narron, 73, received her heavenly promotion on September 14, 2017, while at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield surrounded by her loving family.

Retha was born in Wilson County on July 1, 1944 to the late Johnny and Sarah Evans Legett. She was a member of Stancil’s Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church. Retha leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and support for the people she cared about. Her enthusiasm and charm will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Family was paramount to Retha, and she lived a life dedicated to her family and friends, her grandchildren especially held a special place in her heart. Retha graduated as salutatorian of her high school class and took great pride in helping organize her class reunions to visit with her former classmates. She was retired from Blue Flame Gas Company after forty five years of service as the front office manager. Following her retirement with the Gas Company, she enjoyed her part time work at the Kenly Library.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Kenly Funeral Service followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Kenly Funeral Service with the Rev. Donnie Massey and Rev. Fred Crank officiating. A private burial for the family will follow the service at the Kenly Cemetery.

Retha is survived by her loving and devoted husband of almost 54 years, Benny Elijah Narron, son, Andy Narron and wife Jamie of Middlesex; brother, Carl Leggett of Florida; sisters, Louise Andrews of Micro and Betty Marlow of Wendell; grandchildren, Dean Jones, Cody Jones, Cecile Narron, and Joshua Narron.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Tonya Narron Jones, brother, Pete Leggett, sister Gladys Barnes, and her granddaughter Melissa Jones.
